About the project
This stunning home showcases Western Red Cedar cladding finished with WOCA Exterior Wood Oil in Walnut and is located within the spectacular Te Arai Links development, north of Auckland.
Named Whaitere (Enchanted Stingray) by Te Hana iwi, the home was designed by Ponting Fitzgerald Architects and built by Oliver Tuck Construction. Positioned on the southern edge of Te Arai Links, the home enjoys panoramic views across the golf course, dunes and Pacific Ocean, with a design that responds beautifully to its unique coastal setting.
Western Red Cedar supplied by BBS Timbers was factory coated by NorthTreat using WOCA Exterior Wood Oil in Walnut prior to installation. The rich walnut tones complement the natural landscape while enhancing the grain and character of the cedar.
The result
The result is a warm and sophisticated timber finish that sits comfortably within the coastal environment, showcasing how cedar can be used to create both architectural impact and a strong connection to place.
WOCA Exterior Wood Oil penetrates deep into the timber, enhancing its natural beauty while providing durable UV and weather protection suited to New Zealand conditions. The finish helps protect the timber from the elements while allowing it to age naturally over time.
